Can Letrozole Be Taken Along With IVF Cycle For Low AMH Levels?

Hello, We have done 1 round of low stimulation IVF and were unsuccessful. We are happy to try more attempts. My husbands sperm is great in all tests done and binding was ok too. My AMH is low and only 1.6, which is causing us the problems. My question is, I have left over femara/letrozole 2.5mg (as i used this before ivf to help us but it only caused very delayed periods each time). Do you think it would be safe to take letrozole with my next ivf cycle? kind regards Claudine

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think you should talk to your fertility doctor about taking letrozole. Letrozole lowers the estrogen levels so it will make fertilization difficult so you should consult your fertility doctor about it.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
