Dear Ma'am, Hi & Welcome.
I can understand your concerns regarding the efficacy of the prescribed medications if taken together.
The combined
oral contraceptive pills like Microgynon may decrease the blood level of
Levothyroxine thereby reducing its efficacy of controlling the symptoms of
hypothyroidism such as tiredness, feeling cold,
constipation, weight gain, depression, joint or muscle pain, thinning hair or hair loss, dry skin, hoarseness, and abnormal menstrual periods.
Consult your treating doctor to increase the dose of Levothyroxine while taking Microgynon and you also need to undergo
thyroid function tests periodically while taking these two medications together.
I usually advise my patient to take Levothyroxine in the morning on an empty stomach with water, at least one-half hour before any food is eaten.
As the iron tablets interfere with the absorption of Levothyroxine, they should be taken at least 4 hours apart.
Hope to have answered your queries.
Best regards.
