General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the proton pump inhibitors are associated with many long term ill effects, common one are:
- Resistance to effect of PPI
- Loss of acid secreting cells of stomach with achlorhydria
- Pernicious anemia
- Lack of B 12 intrinsic factor
- Significant calcium loss and osteoporosis
- Others

Kindly consult your doc for further guidelines in this regard.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
