Can Lisinopril Dosage Be Lowered While Having Low Blood Pressure Levels?

I have been on Lisinopril for over 20 years. When I first started taking it I was going through extremely heavy periods. I was started on 5 mg, 10 mg. 20 mg. and then 40 mg. I am now 63 have lost 21 pounds and am continuing to lose weight. I check my BP with a wrist monitor and the readings have been much lower than ever before, so when I see my Dr. next time may I ask if the mg. could be lowered ?

Hi.

It is not valid or important to check if the BP has been lowered (as this is expected from the drug), what is important is to note whether or not the BP is within the normal range or not. If your BP is lower than the normal range only then should you ask for a lower dose, but if it is within normal range then you may have to stick to the dose for now as it is doing its job well enough.

Best wishes.
