Can Lorazepam Be Taken While On Escitalopram?

I have just finished six months of chemo and drugs to combat AML. Acute myeloid leukemia. Right now I suffer a great deal of anxiety and also I have been depressed for so long I hardly know what it s like to feel good any more. I just started the antidepressant pill called escitalopram 10 mg Citalopram I don t know what it says. I have to take one of these each night before I go to bed is it safe for me to take an anti anxiety pill now to help me control my anxiety. (Lorazepam)

Both the drugs have synergistic i.e additive action of making you drowsy. Though their mechanism is different. I suggest you reduce the dose of lorazepam and see if you get sleep. If effective you can continue with that dose or consult your physcian and increase the dose.
