Hi,

Lowplat contains clopidogrel which belongs to the group of medications known as antiplatelet medications is used in treatment and prevention of heart attacks, strokes or blood circulation disease like peripheral vascular disease. Lowplat works by preventing the formation of clots in blood and hence protect the heart from heart attacks, brain from transient ischemic attack (TIA) or strokes and similar conditions.

If you stop taking this medication, the tendency of blood clots will return, usually within 5 days of stopping that indicates you may be at increased risk of serious problems such as further strokes or heart attacks. Despite having some side effects like increased bleeding, nosebleed, headache, easily bruising, pale skin, weakness, tiredness, fever, allergic reactions etc., you should not stop taking this medication without consulting your doctor first. Take this medication as long as directed by your doctor.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
