Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi Doctor, My gynae has prescribed me Lupigest 200 for 15 days. Is it safe to take during pregnancy? I am 38 years and this is my second pregnancy. I din t have complications in my first pregnancy which was 9.5 years ago. I don t feel any problem till now, so should I take this capsule?
Lupigest is a form of the hormone progesterone. Are you having problems in your pregnancy? Or did you in a past pregnancy?
In the first trimester, it's often given to women who have had infertility treatment to help support the pregnancy until 11-12 weeks when the placenta starts to take over production of progesterone from the corpus luteum.
Also, it's given later in pregnancy for women with prior spontaneous preterm births or women diagnosed with a short cervix on the second trimester.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Prabhash Verma,
