Can Megestrol Causes Clotting Of The Blood And Weight Gain?

I have Hyperplasia without atypia and am considering my options. The Dr. has suggested magesterol as a course of treatment for 6 months and then evaluate. What are the risks? Is the a bio-identical hormone? I worry about blood clots and weigh gain, although the other listed side effects are daunting too. I can also do surgery, but will I need to take hormones even after a hysterechtomy?

Hello dear user, thanks for consulting Healthcaremagic and sharing your concerns, Megestrol is asimilar to a natural substance made by the body called progesterone, its have several side effects including a risk of weight gain and blood clots, but you only need the treatment by 6 months and that's excellent, I advice you to balance the possible side effects keeping a healthy life style, taking vitamins supplements, doing exercises and a proper diet. I hope that my advice has been helpful, take care
