Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a Coronary Thrombosis in 2004 , taxicardia and almost died and had three stents placed in my heart. I take Lisinopril and Atenalol and one 325 mg aspirin but I have painful arthritis in my knees. Otherwise I have had no heart symptoms at all since my treatment. My doc wants to prescribe Meloxicam 15 mG 1 X daily for my arthritis. I read that it can cause blood clots. Should I be taking Meloxicam given my history of heart attack?
Sorry but non steroidal anti inflammatory medicines can not be taken by cardiac patient. However ask your doctor to prescribe you a combination of paracetamol and tramadol. Tramadol is very safe for cardiac patient and will help to counter the pain of inflammation and arthritis and will not affect your heart.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Rini
