Can Meloxicam Be Taken Instead Of Ibuprofen Safely Without Any Side Effects?
i have severe scoliosis at 72 and recently had bone surgery to remove a bone spur that was pinching a nerve. I ve taken so much ibpropen my kidney function is 35 instead more than60. I think tylen ol is hard on my liver. Is meloxicam a good alternative?
NSAIDS (non-steroidal anti Inflammatory drugs) have like ibuprofen, meloxicam are hard on the kidneys. So no, meloxicam is not a good substitute for your situation. Opioids like fentanyl, hydrocodone are safe alternatives for pain management in those with kidney impairment. Please consult your doctor about this. Meditative and deep breathing techniques, hot packs, physiotherapy can also help relieve pain.
Hope this helps. Please note that Opioids need to be taken as prescribed to prevent overdose related complications. Please let me know if you need anything else. Wish you good health
