Can Metaprolol Cause Severe Rashes And Welts On Body?

I suffer from severe rashes even welts at times and small pimpCale- like sores on my lower legs and severe itching. Wonder if metoprolol tart 50mg twice a day causes it. what other drug can i substitute.
I use prescribed creams on my legs but they don't help. I take meto. for high blood pressure. have not had a heart attack.

Dear i can understand that you concern .
I would like to inform you that rash over leg is highly uncommon side effects of metoprolol .
But rash can happen with any drugs.
As you have mentioned you are taking this drug for hypertension , I would like to emphasise that metoprolol is not the first line antihypertensive . We have better drug for hypertension than this specially when you have no problem in your heart.
One thing i would like to suggest that if you are taking this drug for long duration , we can't stop this class of drugs suddenly, so please don't try this. If this is found to be cause of your rash than it should be tapered slowly and then stopped over a period of weeks . If stopped suddenly can cause injury to your heart.
For your rash get a dermatologist opinion . If he thinks there is no other causes then discuss with your physician for tapering plans and it's substitution by another antihypertensive .
