Can Metformin Be Replaced By Berberine?

HI, I m currently on altace caps 10mg liptor 80mg nifedipine 90mg,metformin,water pill, I m looking to slowly get off of metiforman and replace it with Berberine, are there any side effects because my medical doctors don t know this answer. The reason I want off is because of the side effects, cost and I m always tired. any help would be appreciated.
