Can Methyldopa, Atorvastatin, Hydrochlorothiazide And Aspirin Be Taken Together?
Hello, My husband has been taking Methyldopa 250 mg for 5yrs now. He recently had a heart attack and had a stint put in. The Dr. changed his blood pressure Medication to Metroprolol 25 mG 24hr tablets. Also asprin 81 mg chewables, Atorvastatin 40 mg plus Hydrochlorthiazide 25 mg tablet. The thing is he is allergic to asprin and NSAIDS. Breaks out in hives all over. The Dr. s said he can stop the asprin. The last time he took it was last Wednesday. He is still getting hives. He remembers being on Metroprolol before and getting hive so his then Dr. put in on Methyldopa and he quit getting the hives. Our question is, would it hurt to switch back to the Methyldopa. And see if that s what might be keeping him with hives. Will it interact ok with the other drugs?
Dear Methyldopa may cause hives, a few people may develop rash and hives with Hydrochlorothiazide .
But each person may differ, so if we observe any side-effects we will stop above drug and shifts to alternative.
Please consult your doctor he will examine and treat with alternate drug.
Take care
