Can Metoprolol Tartrate, Amlodipine Besylate, Zoloft And Valium Be Taken Together?

Good afternoon Doctor Rynne, I am currently taking Metoprolol Tartrate (100MG) twice a day, Amlodipine Besylate (2.5 MG)in the morning, Zoloft (50 MG) in the morning and Valium (5 MG) at night. Are they compatible? I get very dizzy and the inside of my body feels like it s on fire for about 10 minutes sometimes after I take my morning meds. Any advice is much appreciated.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Thes drugs are for different indications. The first two are related to your heart and or blood pressure (you didn't mention why you were prescribed these). Amlodpine and metoprolol are resonable combination and should not be a matter of concern if taken for proper reason.

Zoloft is for anxiety and depression, and among the group of drugs for these probelms, this drug has been found to have the least interaction with other drugs. Sonics again is the best choice here whereas Valium itself don't intract a lot.

So to say it clearly, there is no probelem in these drugs taken in combination if indicated. However, having said this, the individual side effects of each of the drug should not be overlooked and you should talk to your doctor if you feel uncomfortable with it.

Feeling dizzy may be due to your blood pressure getting down too much. So, one possibility would be to reduce the drugs or take one of them in the night. However, this should never be done without your doctor's advice.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman
