Hi,
Metronidazole should not be taken after consuming alcohol. Avoid taking metronidazole for at least 3 days after you stop consuming alcohol.
Otherwise it may cause serious a severe adverse reaction ('Disulfiram-like reaction') resulting in throbbing
headaches, increased heartbeats,
stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, and flushing (warmth, redness, or tingly feeling), and syncope.
In its severe form, it may also cause respiratory
depression, cardiovascular collapse, arrhythmias, convulsions, and death.
Based on the history you seem to have developed recurrent
vaginal infection. Make sure that your sex partner also gets treated too, and wait to have sex again until all of your symptoms go away (about a week). Get checked again if your symptoms come back.
Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
