Can Miconazole Nitrate Be Used For The Treatment Of Insect Bites?

Hey I was just wondering if I could use miconazole nitrate on bug bites? My ankles have been pretty itchy for about three days. For whatever reason I was thinking it was just a mixture of dry skin and me not shaving for like a week. Well I looked at them after I got out of the shower and realized I had probably 20 bites on each ankle. I'm guessing they're bed bugs? I'm not sure. My question is can I use miconazole nitrate to relive the itching?

Hi, Thank you for trusting Healthcare Magic.
I have carefully worked through your case, and I can realize your health worries.
You should know that Miconazole Nitrate 2% is used to treat skin infections such as athlete's foot, jock itch, ringworm, and other fungal skin infections (candidiasis). This medication is also used to treat a skin condition known as pityriasis (tinea versicolor), a fungal infection that causes a lightening or darkening of the skin of the neck, chest, arms, or legs. Miconazole nitrate is an azole antifungal that works by preventing the growth of fungus. Based on your statement, I think is not a fungal infection.
Histamines are chemicals in the body that cause allergy symptoms, including itching. An antihistamine drug is a common treatment for allergic reactions. I recommends applying topical antihistamines directly to the affected area. It will soothe you a lot.
If you are not sure what the cause of the itching is and itching that you feel does not improve with home care, consult your Physician for further help.

Hope it helps
