Can Micronor .35 Mg Be Effective In Delaying Periods?
I asked my doctor for a prescription to delay my period for vacation. She prescribed Micronor which is a 0. 35 milligram dose once daily starting today. (my period is due in 3 days) Everything I am reading says the effective dose of norethindrone to delay a period is 5 milligrams 3 times per day. will the Micronor dose be effective? I have regular periods, am 43 years old, and do not take oral contraceptives as I have had a tubal ligation.
You can take tab. Primolut N 5mg thrice daily starting from 4-5 days before your due date to until the postponement date. You need to take at the same time everyday. Micronor 0.35mg is used once daily as an oral contraceptive but to delay periods, 5mg dose is necessary. Primolut N is also norethindrone so you can take it.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
