Can Microzide Be Taken For Weight Loss?

l am on 60 mg of torsemide per day, and lately l have been gaining a lot of weight. a friend of mine told me of a pill called microzide. l read about it, l want to tell my doctor that l want to take this pill. what do you think? my e-mail address is , YYYY@YYYY

Hi, I have read your question and understand your concern.

Answer: Microzide is just another diuretic like the one (torsemide) you are taking and there is no medical evidence that it helps reduce actual weight.

The only thing it does is that it causes excretion of water from your body through kidneys. Doctors prescribe this drug to patients with high blood pressure and/or heart failure or some other conditions in which body retains water more than required.

For weight loss, please eat healthy diet, avoid junks and soft drinks and take regular exercise. If diet is a problem, it would be worth seeing a dietitian who can help you with that.
