Can Mirena Cause Missed Menstruation?
hi i am 22 years old and i had a baby by c section 1 yr ago. i also have had the mirena iud for10 months now, last 2 days after i cough or use stomach muscles example: closing a window, i feel a tightenin/flutter in the upper part of my abdomen. no pain. i do not get a period since i have iud, but the last 7-8 months ive always had at least some spotting at my time of the month. last period was end of Octoberand it was barely there and havent had 1 since which i know could be caused by mirena. just wondering what it could be. thank you

Yes mirena IUD could be the cause for absence of periods in you. Amennorhea or absence of periods & slight spotting in between periods are common side effects that a women experience after placement of IUD. The light spotting you had must be your irregular period due to effect of IUD. These problem should decrease with time, if you had lower abdominal pain or severe cramping then you should be concerned.
Tightenind/flutter in the upper part of my abdomen doesnot occur due to IUD placemnet & should be related to some upper gastrointestinal problem such as mild gastritis, indigestion, Hyperacidity etc.
