Can Monticope And Levolin Be Given For Cough And Cold In An Infant?

My son turned one on sep 20 2016. He started with running nose and fever, we gave him crocin drops and maxtra drops. Both subsided and he was fine. But then cough started and is vomiting mucus after meals. running nose again started and our pediatrician has advise for the following medicines: 1. Moxikind CV dry syrup 2.5 ml twice a day 2. Levolin syrup 3. Crocin drops if he is having temperature 4. Monticope sus I want to know: 1.whether antibiotic (moxikind) is a good idea knowing that it might be a viral than bacterial ? 2.Wether levolin and monticope are good for these kind of cough and cold?

Hi,

Yes, amoxiclav is a good idea for an infection acquired in a non-hospital setting. Usually, there is bacterial infection after viral infection and is called superadded infection. That's why antibiotic is given. Other drugs mentioned by you are also routinely added. No problem, you can go ahead with drugs.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
