Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
CAN NABUMETONE REDUCE BACK PAIN? I HAVE UNDERGONE TWO LAMENECTOMYS BUT CONTINUE TO EXPERIENCE LOWER BACK PAIN AND SCIATICA DISCOMFORT IF I PHYSICALLY OVERWORK. MY DOCTOR PRESCRIBED THIS MEDICINE FOR DISCOMFORT IN MY ARM, BUT MY BACK IS FEELING MUCH BETTER. COULD IT BE THE NABUMETONE THAT IS HELPING MY BACK PROBLEMS?
Hi & Welcome to HCM. Yes, Nabumetone can reduce the back pain. Nabumetone is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) which is basically used to treat inflammatory joint conditions like osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. It can also be used for other painful conditions associated with inflammation like backache or muscle ache. It does not treat the disease that causes pain and swelling, so the underlying cause of your back problems should be evaluated properly by relevant tests such as X ray of the spine, arthritis profile, etc. Its use is associated with gastritis, peptic ulcer or bleeding tendency in some patients. Hope I could answer your query.
