Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just passed a kidney stone yesterday it was black. I suffer from Graves disease and am on neomercazole. Can this cause these stones. I have never had this before. I have been on this medication for nearly three years. I am a personal trainer and struggle losing weight since starting this.
Neo- Mercazole is not known to cause kidney stones. It may cause the urine to be darker in color and this may be the reason the stone is black but it does not in itself increase the risk for kidney stones.
If you still have the stone, it is best to sent it to the doctor to determine the kind of stone it is and which are the factors that favor this kind of stone so you can know how to prevent these stones in the future.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj General and Family Physician
