Can Neurontin Withdrawal Cause Seizures?

I have read that muscle twitching is an unusual side effect of Neurontin. Is it possible for the twitching to become permanent? Is magnesium a good treatment if someone wants to stay on the medication? Dose of magnesium? Also - can Neurontin withdrawal cause seizures in someone without a history of a seizure?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Neurontin can cause muscle twitching, jerky movements and tremors. It can't cause seizures and is used to treat seizures.

You may use magnesium and vitamin B complex to help with muscle contractions. Consult your neuropsychologyst to lower it's dosage.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka
