Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m an RN reviewing a medical record for a home health client with fibromyalgia and chronic back pain as well as heart failure, COPD and other co-morbidities. She was already on Norco PRN when a new order was received for Percocet. The prior order for Norco remains in place. Does it seem appropriate for her to be taking both meds at the same time? Thanks -
2. Since both are narcotic and NSAID pain relievers, only one of them should be prescribed or else can lead to serious ill effects. It would be helpful to the patient if you could inform the higher authorities so that such mistakes are not repeated.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Riyanka Chail, General & Family Physician

Can Norco PRN And Percocet Be Taken Together?
Hi, 1. Percocet is - oxycodone and acetaminophen and Norco PRN is hydrocodone and acetaminophen. 2. Since both are narcotic and NSAID pain relievers, only one of them should be prescribed or else can lead to serious ill effects. It would be helpful to the patient if you could inform the higher authorities so that such mistakes are not repeated. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
