Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I HAD A TOTAL KNEE REPLACEMENT 5/23. I HAD A LOT OF BRUISING & SWELLING. MY PAIN LEVEL HAS BEEN NEARLY UNBEARABLE. I HAVE BEEN PRESCRIBED NORCO 5-325, 1-2 TABLETS EVERY 4-6 HRS AS NEEDED FOR PAIN. I HAVE TRIED BOTH ICE PACKS & HEAT PACKS WITHOUT RELIEF. I TRY TO COOPERATE WITH MY EXERCISES & THERAPY, BUT THAT JUST MAKES THE PAIN INTOLERABLE. WHEN I ASK THE HEALTH CARE WORKERS ABOUT THE PAIN THEY JUST STATE THAT S TO BE EXPECTED . COULD IT BE POSSIBLE NORCO IS JUST INEFFECTIVE FOR ME?
* It is not the fact that Norco is not working, but if the level of pain is more intense, addition of diclofenac or tramadol hydrochloride can be a need of time for pain resolution.
Kindly discuss the issue with your surgeon in details during your scheduled follow up examination.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
