Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Good morning: I am taking norethindrone for fibroids. I am 46 years old. Don t need it for birth control. I have a bladder infection this morning. Can this medicine cause a bladder infection? I am type 1 diabetic as well but my blood sugars have been very normal between 94-117 for the last 48 hours.
first of all welcome to hcm initially I would like to describe you about norethisterone- it is also called norehindrone, it is a synthetic progestogen and works similar to normal progesterone hormone. uses are 1. as a contraceptive pill 2. to treat pre menstrual syndrome 3. to treat dysmenorrhoea 4. to treat menorrhagia 5.irregular menstruation 6.in family completed fertile female if the fibroid uterus with complaints of menorrhagia norethisterone is prescribed
side effects : androgenic side effects are acne, hirsutism, voice change :estrogenic side effects are breast enlarged :it raises blood sugar levels in diabetics increases bp jaundice migraine headaches hypersensitivity reactions blood clot disorder fluid retention but here you are having good controlled sugar levels I don't think bladder infection is related to use of norethisterone bladder infection treated with oral antibiotics, adequate water intake
