Can Norflox Be Taken While Suffering With Tendonitis?

I have had diarrhoea for the last two weeks and have tried eating very simple foods but it has got worse in the last two days. The pharmacist has given me norflox-tz today and I have taken one tablet but have just read that it should not be taken if you have tendonitis and I have been suffering with this in both knees also for the last two weeks. What should I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and thanks for writing.

Norflox and other medications of flouroquinolones class are best avoided in case you have tendonitis as they predispose to tendon rupture. First if all do not go by pharmacist advise. Consult a doctor who can investigate your diarrhoea and then after diagnosis can formulate a treatment plan for you. You may require certain tests like blood counts, stool examination and other tests to help in diagnosis. In the mean time you csn take plenty of fluids alongwith adequate sslts to prevent dehydration.

Hope it helps you.
