Can Novelon Be Taken For Heavy Menstrual Bleeding?

Hi. I am having heavy menstrual bleeding since last 1 year. It stops for a week or so every month but bleeds for 20 days or more. Its heavier bleeding with large clots. Today the homeopathic dr recommended a hormone tablet novelon. What is your perception on this. Earlier to this I was on homeopathic medicine.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
I share your concern
Irregularities of menses and heavy bleeding might be related to hormonal imbalances or inflammation of the urogenital tract.

Novelon contains desogestrol ( progesterone ) and ethynyl estradiol ( estrogen ), which is prescribed as hormone replacement to meet the demands.

In my opinion you should continue with Novelon for 10 to 15 days
if it doesn't improve than you need to book an appointment with a gynaecologist for hormonal studies and investigation to rule out infection.

Meanwhile maintain good hygiene and have plenty of fluids to maintain good hydration
Hot hip bath daily for 10 to 15 minutes will definitely help you
Please feel free to ask for more clarification I will be happy to help you
Best wishes
