Can Omega-3 Vegetarian DHA Be Taken In Place Of Emfolic DHA?
Hi, I am 29 weeks pregnant. I am looking for a vegetarian source of DHA, found nature s bounty vegetarian DHA 200 mg capsules. Can I take those instead of the suggested Emfolic DHA tablets? I think Emfolic DHA is from fish oil? Alternatively, is there any vegetarian DHA supplement for pregnancy? Thanks.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Vegeterian Dha is derived from pure marine algae. It is supportive for heart and brain. But emfolic dha has added advantage of folic acid. It is needful for normality of fetal brain so it is specially recommended in pregnancy.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
