Can Pantoprazole Cause Dry Mouth?

I take 40 mg of Pantoprazole per day as a maintenance for my acid reflux. I take it first thing in the morning with my other AM meds. I start to feel the after-effects of the Pantoprazole as d dry mouth for about four hours. What can I take to end the dry mouth? Also, what would be alternatives to the Pantoprazole when I have to travel away from home longer than the three month amount of Pantoprazole in my prescription? D J Leary Minneapolis, MN

Hello
This is a proton pump inhibitors , the drug is generally well tolerated .
However , in some cases may cause dryness of mouth due to inhibits of hepatic microsomal enzymes but this is not a serious side effect .
Even you can use this drug for FIVE YEARS without any side effects ,this is scientifically proved .
Other substitutes are omepazole or lnasoprazole or rabeprazole or esomeprazole ( any one of them , you can use ) .
Even this drug ,you can use after 2-3 hours of meal .
