Can Penicillin V And Flucloxacillin Cause Dizziness Or Other Side Effects?

I am on day 4 of a course of antibiotics for an infected sebaceous cyst on the back of my scalp. Today the pain from cyst is almost gone but I am feeling quite dizzy. The antibiotics are penicillin v and flucloxicillin. I have also been taking ibuprofen for the pain. I have 2 days left of antibiotics.

Hello,

I can understand your concern. The antibiotic Flucloxacillin can cause dizziness as side effect, but as you had infection in the cyst, you need to complete the antibiotic course. This side effect is not so commonly felt but it is reported to occur in some patients.

I would advise you to do some light activities for the remaining two days and not to drive or handle any heavy machinery, but do complete the course as it is giving you relief in infection.

You can also expect stomach upset, nausea, vomiting and fatigue from these medications. If you have relief in pain, you can stop taking Ibuprofen now.
