Welcome!
I am happy you are committed to losing that weight - especially if you want more children. It is always best to get that weight off before becoming pregnant again.
You say you eat right and exercise. Those are key to your success.
As far as
phentermine goes, it is an
appetite suppressant and has some stimulant properties so it might cause some irritability,
insomnia, etc. I would talk it over with your doctor and follow up with an appointment with a Dietitian to set up a workable meal plan and exercise program so that permanent lifestyle issues can be addressed with long term weight maintenance at your optimal body weight can be maintained.
Many doctors will not prescribe
weight loss pills, especially if your BMI is lower than 27, which yours is. You are in the
overweight range only.
Above all, please do not take over the counter diet pills. I have seen so much harm from clients taking that route, especially without nutritional supervision.
My recommendations are a low calorie balanced meal plan with no added sugars, adequate calcium from a balanced diet to meet your needs (assists in weight loss), decrease your fat (low fat milk, low fat cheese), get 1 gm/kg body weight protein every day from lean sources and focus on lower glycemic carbohydrates.
Exercise should be a minimum of 150 minutes per week at
target heart rate. Increase as tolerated.
Consider seeing a Dietitian for help with a workable nutrition and exercise plan, professional support, social support and get good sleep 6-8 hours every night.
I am here for more detailed questions. Have a good day. Kathryn Shattler, MS,RDN
