Can Plavix Cause Low Blood Platelet Count?
My platelet count is 1278 H range should be 140-400 Thousand/ul. I have been taking Plavis for some time. I read here that a side effect on platelet function in patients who are CYP2C19 poor metabolizers. I also had a triple by-pass in September of last year. Could Plavis be the cause of the heart attack and the rise in my platelet count?

Usual lowering of platelets is not a side effect of Plavix commonly seen.
Other causes of low platelets should be evaluated.
Plavix is not the cause of heart attack, so be rest assured for the same.
