Can Porcine In Capsule Avicel Cause Consistent Productive Cough?
I have a productive cough that has lasted for 4 years, and my doctors cannot find any reason for it. I have been taking compound Thyroid USP Powder (Porcine) in a capsule Microcrystalline cellulose NF (Avicel) for 15 years and I am wondering if this could be causing my cough.
IF you are reacting to this agent then it is possible that it may be causing the cough. A reaction can occur to any traditional or herbal medication.
The most common reasons for persistent coughing are:(1)post nasal drip- this is the most common cause. Some persons may have a silent drip and only present with the cough
It is treated with topical steroid nasal sprays and anti histamines
(2)GERD- this is also a cause of persistent coughing Again persons may be unaware of the reflux
(3)Asthma
Since post nasal drip is most common, you may want to consider initiating treatment.
I hope this helps
