Can Prednisone Be Taken For Addison's Disease?

My Doctor has been testing me for Addison s disease, I have taken the stimulation test. And now awaiting my Doctor to find an Endocnoloyg ( sorry dr s writing )to preform an ACTH cortisol test done on me. I feel my life is up in the air and no one is taking it serious. Now on of my doctors have prescribed me prednisone to take, can you tell me why and what this drug is for? Sincerely XXXX 0000
