Can Protonix Be Taken For A Long Duration?

How long is it safe to take Protonix. I have been taking it for several years and a retired doctor friend just told me I should stop taking it immediately. (his specialty was Barretts) A couple of years ago an endoscopy (sp?) test showed that my Barretts had disappeared but no one has told me to stop taking Protonix. Please advise. Don MacGregor

Hi, Yes, protonix shouldn't be taken long term.

If you have no gastritis, reflux, heart burn or if barretts is cleared, then there is no indication of continuing with protonix.
