Can Risperidone .25 Cause Excessive Sleepiness?
My father will be 105 years old in August for the past five days or so he has been sleeping most of the day and it is such a deep sleep it is difficult to wake him. He is on Risperidone .25 at night, and otherwise in good health. He get angry when we wake him for his medication. Is there any medical condition that would cause this behavior? What would you suggest. Where are you and why am I speaking to someone in India? Why do I have to have a monthly subscription?

The cause of excessive sleepiness is risperidobe as one of the mentioned adverse effect of it is drowsiness and increased sleepiness. To avoid that consult your doctor and reduce the dose of risperidone. However, there are other causes like hypothyroidism that can cause excessive sleep.
