Can SHINGRIX Shingles Vaccine Help Treat Irritation In The Eyes?

i ve had shingles, even worse occular. Five years later i still have to take prednilisolone(steriod) and combigan drops daily to keep the irritation under contol in my eye. I ve already had a cataract in my eye, removal and lens replacement. Will GSK SHINGRIX, shingles vaccine, stop the recurrent irritation in my eye if I stop the drops? Could it cause a recurence of shingles in my eye? I am 62 year old male and have NOT had any other shingles vaccine, VOSTAVAX. My current eyesight is correctable to 20/20 both eyes. I m a commercial airline pilot. Thanks, XXXX

Hello,

Nope, I do not think shingle vaccine will help in the eye infection now as it has already been recurrent since long. Combigan is a drug for glaucoma dear and it causes some ocular surface irritation. You may try using some lubricants like carboxymethyl cellulose along with it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
