Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hey! my question is i had protetced anal sex wit a partner. I noticed the condom broke and immediately stopped removed myself and cleaned off nd replaced the broken condom wit 2 condoms. We resumed intercourse until completion. Although the person assured me they always have protected sex and get tested every 6 months, im still concerned i may have contracted hiv or another std. What is the probability of that happening?
Firstly, though it was anal sex, it was protected. As you have immediately noticed the torn condom and removed and cleaned yourself, there is very less or minimal chances of you coming into contact with the body fluids of the other person. The next time you had double protection. Hence, you don't need to worry.
As the other person insisted that they have protected sex always and also gets tested, you can be relaxed. Please do not worry about contracting any STDs from that act, as it's very highly unlikely. Still, if you want to get tested, you can go on with HIVELISA at 3 weeks and 3 months or only once after 6 months.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
