Can Salicylic Acid Be Applied For Puss Filled Corn On Toe?
I used salicylic acid to remove a large corn from the top of my toe. After a week of treatment most of the corn pulled off as it turned to puss. Do I continue to apply salicylic acid to remaining area? It is pink with a small red dot in the middle.
Salicylic acid is a keratolytic (dissolves the outer layer of the skin) in certain conditions like corn, hyperkeratoses, etc. It has to be applied on the affected area of the skin.
A broken skin or presence of infection in the form of pus filled corn, there is a high risk of this drug getting absorbed into the blood causing harmful effects hence it should not be applied on the broken skin or infective wounds.
Hope this answers your query.
