Hi,
Risperidone is an atypical anti-psychotics used in
schizophrenia, a condition in which the individuals have mood disturbances, mania and bipolar disorders. This drug controls the level of natural
neurotransmitters in the brain thus controls the mood. Common side effects are dizziness, drowsiness,
lightheadedness, vomiting, weight gain, etc.
Telmisartan is an anti-hypertensive acts by blocking the receptors for angiotensin II enzyme which constricts the blood vessels and increases the blood pressure. Common side effects are dizziness, nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, etc. Hydrochlorthiazide is an anti-hypertensive acts as an diuretic which decreases the blood pressure by maintaining the water and balancing the minerals.
Since Risperidone has effect on blood pressure, it should not be used along with antihypertensives. This drug causes
orthostatic hypotension in which the individual feels dizzy or may faint on changing the posture from lying down or sitting to standing causing sudden fall in blood pressure. So, anti hypertensives (Telma H) are advised carefully on individuals taking Risperidone.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
