Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can we use stabiline syrup for 14 months baby? Doctor prescribed two doses for day, but the problem I feel that my baby is habituating, she is stops crying immediately after divining the syrup. Please suggest weather we can continue or not Thanks in advance
I understand your concern. I understand that your baby's pediatrician prescribed the syrup for constipation. This syrup is only intended for short term use in order to bring immediate relief from constipation and should not be used for longer because it has many side effects, one of which is the loss of your baby's natural bowel movement. So I recommend you promptly stop giving the baby Sorbiline and get her on a diet rich in fruit and vegetables, as well as plenty of liquids. Your baby finds comfort in taking the syrup due to its high sugar content and sweet taste, so in order to wean her off you may give her some sugar water or fruit juice and gradually decrease the amount of sugar in the water.
Wishing you all the best.
