Can Synthroid Cause Hair Thinning?

Iam taking Synthroid (100 mcg) daily and have been on it for years. However, I am noticing that my hair is thinning now which is unusual for me. I have always had thick hair. I get my thyroid tested (tsh) every 6 months. Is there another test I should have done. Thank You

Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Synthyroid don`t causes thinning of hair but it can alopecia (spot baldness) . But as you are likely having hypothyroidism and hypothyroidism can commonly cause hair thinning , You should have your TSH test done to see whether your diseases activity is well controlled or not.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate to ask. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
