Can Tegretol Be Taken For Epilepsy?

Can we use tegretol for epilepsy. I used to use levipil 500 for my epilepsy, but it got over and I cannot find the medication anywhere in this country. For this reason, the only available drug for epilepsy is tegretol until I can go back to my home country and get levipil. Can you please advise if this is ok?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Tegretol is a drug that belongs to anti-seizure medications and can be used for seizures. On the other hand, certain anti-seizure drugs are indicated in certain kinds of seizures and may not be a good fit for others.
So, if you have no other way to treat your seizures, you may try Tegretol but just be aware that it may not be the best fit for certain types of epilepsy.

I hope this answers your query.
I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.

Regards,
