Hi there i was wondering if metoprolo XL or amlodopine will create a chronic cough i do have asthma but i have inhalers and another drug for it. but i cant get rid of this cough and if i have a little bit of acid reflux (i dont notice it but it showed up on an xray) will that cause a chronic cough?
1. some patients do not tolerate beta blockers [metoprolol XL] and experience frank bronchospasm with wheezing & ronchii OR complain of low grade dry cough [since you have asthma as well as cough] thus an alternative drug preferably calcium channel blocker [amlodipine] can be continued but stop Metoprolol XL.
2. to prevent acid reflux: . do not lie down immediately after food . take small, non-bulky meals. . head high position at night. . avoid pain killers except paracetamol.
