Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can toprol cause feet & leg swelling. I am taking 80 to 120 mg of fourismide & am afraid of kidney damage. This increase to 140 from 80 is re Can Toprol cause swelling of feet and hands. I am on 80/120 mg of fourismide (laziness) and my feet are still swollen I was told I have chf but the swelling does not seem to reduce even watching salt intake.
I had gone through your question and understand your concern. Toprol (Metoprolol), can cause a slow heart rate, and also symptoms of heart failure.
Are you taking other antihypertensive drugs actually?
I suggest you to stop taking Toprol and also consult with your cardiologist for a heart rate measurement, blood pressure measurement, to evaluate for any heart failure and to switch to another drug.
You should continue taking Furosemide for the edema, it is necessary.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Suela Gjata,
General & Family Physician
