Can Tramadol Hydrochloride Be Taken While On Pradaxa?

Please identify your title/credentials; thanks I was prescribed Tramadol Hydrochloride for arthritic joint pain that isn t responding to tylenol. I cannot take antiinflammatory meds due to Gerd and being on Pradaxa for At. fib. I am concerned ab out the opiod factor in the drug; also, I like a glass of wine with my evening meal, and the directions strongly warn against etoh. What are your feelings about my concern. I have been taking the med for 4 days and don t feel any significant pain relief. YYYY@YYYY

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Tramadol is also an opioid group of drug, so taking two same group of drugs may not be much useful. Please consult your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care.
