Can Tramadol Be Taken For Back Pain?

I have tramadol 50mg pills left over which were prescribed for my dog. We had to euthanize him. I am prescribed tramadol 50mg by my primary care physician for back pain which i take on a rare occassion. Is it ok to take my dogs meds versus paying for more? Hate to throw out/waste if they can be used?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi. If the tramadol is exactly the same as the ones used in humans it will be fine to use them. But if its specially formulated for dogs, rather dont use them.
