My son has kidney stones and also has Hep c. He is taking trileptal as well and has tested positive for Methamphetaminnes. He swears he has not used Meth. I found info showing that trileptal can cause false poSitives. Is there any additional risk for false positives due to his other problems. The. Test is urine test he has no apparent signs of drug use
Hi, welcome to HCM. Trileptal can cause low S.Na (Sodium) level and sometime cause allergic reaction. It can cause false positive test but you should again be vigilant on drug abuse. Check S.Na regularly, watch carbamazepine level. I think this would be helpful to you. Best wishes. TC. Dr Jay Patel
