Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter is 23 and has been in and out of depression for the majority of her life. She has been on prozac for 10 years. She was also prescribed adderal 4 years ago. She is an intelligent, post college graduate who is struggling with idiopathic hypersomnia. (she recently completed a sleep study) We have pursued so many avenues to try to help her with her lack of motivation, time management and excessive tiredness. It is interfering greatly with her life. I am curious if trintellix might be a good choice for her? Her sleep study doctor prescribed Medonifil which our insurance will not cover. Thank you so much.
Trintellix is used to treat depression but it should be taken with your doctor’s advice.
Depression is treated with different groups of drugs depending on the patient and these should be taken with the doctor’s advice and it shouldn’t be changed with another drug without consulting your doctor.
If the drug you have been adviced doesn’t cover insurance then you should ask your doctor for different one citing the reason behind it.
As the required dose of each drug varies and excess or inadequate dose result in unwanted adverse effects. So talk to your doctor and follow his advice on this.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
